If you’re one of the roughly 425 million people in the world using Gmail, chances are good that your inbox just had a makeover.
Gmail has recently rolled out a new tab system that sorts your mail for you. Cool right? Your own personal mail sorter!
On one hand that’s a pretty nifty feature, but there’s a sad side to this story too.
You might be missing out on your emails from Nimble.
Let me explain why.
Gmail now sorts your emails into at least three categories – ‘Primary’, ‘Social’ and ‘Promotions’.
Emails from your mum go automatically into ‘Primary’ (along with stuff from friends, booking reference emails and anything else important).
Updates from your social media platforms go into ‘Social’.
Any company newsletters, coupon emails or other database messages you subscribe to will get stored under ‘Promotions’.
This ‘Promotions’ tab is where your emails from Nimble are most likely going to go from now on. Right down there on the end of the tab list, stuffed in amongst pizza vouchers and other stuff you’ll never look at.
What a shame! We know you love hearing from us and replying to us, which means you probably wouldn’t mind emails from Nimble automatically going into your main inbox – the ‘Primary’ tab.
Here’s what you need to do to make sure your emails from us don’t get lost in the trash.
1. Open up your ‘Promotions’ tab and highlight an email from Nimble.
2. Drag the email over to the ‘Promotions’ tab.
3. Gmail will then ask you this:
“The conversation has been moved to Primary. Undo.
Do this for future messages from email@example.com? Yes”
4. Click on the ‘Yes’ link. This will let Google know that you have asked to read our emails and that you don’t want them sent to the ‘Promotions’ tab (the place where fun emails go to die).
It’s that simple.
Now we can stay in touch with each other as easily as we used to.
If you’re a Hotmail/Outlook or Yahoo user and you’ve just reached the end of this blog post – good on you!
But this doesn’t apply to you. If you’re not getting our emails, check your junk mail. And get us out of there immediately!
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to leave us a comment below and we’ll get right back to you.
